Amy Pascal and David Heyman have been announced as the new producers for the James Bond franchise, a decision made by Amazon MGM. This marks the first time the iconic series will be produced outside the Broccoli family, who have been associated with 007 since the 1960s.
Pascal will handle production through her company, Pascal Pictures, and Heyman will produce under his banner, Heyday Films. It remains unclear whether their involvement will extend beyond the upcoming Bond film.
This update follows a deal between Amazon MGM and the longstanding Bond producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, granting Pascal and Heyman creative control over the franchise.
“We are approaching every creative decision with James Bond, which Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have so masterfully steered, with the greatest sense of responsibility,” said Courtenay Valenti, Amazon MGM Studios’ head of film. “Part of an elite group of producers who have developed and managed massive film franchises to box office success and critical acclaim, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are two of the most accomplished, experienced, and respected film producers in our industry.”
The announcement from Amazon MGM also noted Pascal and Heyman's successful track records in leading major film franchises. Pascal has notably managed the Spider-Man series featuring Tom Holland, which has amassed over $3 billion globally. Meanwhile, Heyman has been pivotal in the success of the Harry Potter series and its Fantastic Beasts spin-offs, achieving significant commercial success.
A joint statement from Pascal and Heyman says: “James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema. We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who made so many extraordinary films and honored and excited to keep the spirit of Bond very much alive as he embarks on his next adventure.”
