Submissions Now Open for 97th Academy Awards, And Early Predictors Indicate Major Nominations For ‘Dune: Part Two’
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ website portal for submissions to be considered for the 2025 Oscars is now open.
The Academy is currently accepting general entries including Feature Films, Animated Features, Animated Shorts, Documentary Features, Documentary Shorts, International Features, Live Action Shorts, Original Scores and Original Songs. All submissions are due on different dates between August 15 and November 14, depending on the submission’s category and the date of its qualifying run.
The 97th Oscars will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
The Academy also invited 487 new members on June 25, 2024.
Films set to headline in major categories include ‘Challengers,’ ‘Inside Out 2,’ ‘Anora,’ ‘Emilia Pérez,’ ‘Dune: Part Two’ (which is predicated to dominate in every technical category), ‘Conclave,’ ‘Gladiator II,’ ‘The Substance,’ ‘Sing Sing,’ ‘The Piano Lesson,’ and future 2024 releases such as ‘Joker 2.’
The 2024 Oscars saw ‘Oppenheimer’ dominate and earned the best picture win among six other awards. This included best director (Christopher Nolan), best actor (Cillian Murphy), and best supporting actor (Robert Downey Jr.).
