And no, it’s not Batman…

Armie Hammer's resurgence in the film industry continues as he secures the lead role in Uwe Boll's new movie, ‘The Dark Knight.’

In this upcoming vigilante thriller, Hammer portrays the protagonist, a crime fighter, with filming set to start on January 27 in Croatia.

Hammer, whose career was disrupted in 2021 due to sexual misconduct allegations, has recently resumed acting. He appeared in Travis Mills' upcoming western 'Frontier Crucible,’ featuring Thomas Jane and William H. Macy. Despite the allegations, Los Angeles prosecutors decided not to file charges against Hammer in 2023 after a detailed investigation.

Hammer's notable roles before the controversy included appearances in Gore Verbinski's ‘The Lone Ranger’ with Johnny Depp, Guy Ritchie's ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’ alongside Henry Cavill, and Luca Guadagnino's ‘Call Me by Your Name’ with Timothée Chalamet.

In a recent podcast, Hammer expressed enthusiasm about his revitalized career, noting he has even begun declining offers. "My dance card’s getting pretty full,” he remarked. "That first job that I turned down after four years of this shit, I mean, it was the best feeling I’ve ever had."

In ‘The Dark Knight,’ Hammer plays Sanders, a character who pursues criminals single-handedly, becoming a viral sensation and a public hero, though the local police chief views him as a societal threat.

Director Uwe Boll described ‘The Dark Knight’ as highly relevant and expressed excitement about bringing the story to life with a talented cast. His recent works include ‘First Shift’ and the soon-to-be-released ‘Run,’ which have received positive feedback.

Despite sharing a title with a well-known superhero movie, executive producer Michael Roesch assures that "our movie is very different from Chris Nolan’s movie, so there is no danger of confusion."

‘The Dark Knight’ will be Boll’s 37th film, continuing his career of varied projects including ‘In the Name of the King’ with Jason Statham, and socially relevant films like ‘Attack on Darfur’ and ‘Assault on Wall Street.’

Representatives for Hammer have not yet commented on his new role.
