Michael B. Jordan Is “Excited” For ‘I Am Legend 2,’ Script Still In The Works And Will Smith To Return
Michael B. Jordan is prepared for his ‘I Am Legend’ sequel with Will Smith. The actor shared an update on the movie’s status while speaking with People magazine as “something that is in the works.”
“We’re still working on the script and getting that up to par,” Jordan said. “It doesn’t have a release date or anything like that. I’m not sure exactly where we’re going to be filming that one, but I’m really excited to get in front of the camera with him [Will Smith].”
Jordan mentioned how Will Smith has influenced his career and “somebody that I’ve looked up to for a really long time, so to be able to work with Will is something I’m really looking forward to. I’m really excited.”
The sequel to Will Smith’s post-apocalyptic 2007 classic was announced in March 2022.
The original film followed Smith’s character, scientist Robert Neville, who seeks to find a cure amid a zombie infestation. The film was adapted from author Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name.
Smith previously teased details about ‘I Am Legend 2’ in 2023, saying that while his character dies in the theatrical version of the first film, the DVD featured an alternate ending in which his character survived: “We are going with the mythology of the DVD version where my character lived,” Smith explained.
We can expect the sequel to begin filming sometime in late 2025.
