John Wick Spin-Off ‘Ballerina’ Confirms Release Date For June 6, 2025

‘Ballerina’ was set to launch us back into the universe of John Wick this summer but because of delays, strikes, and scheduling conflicts, we have to wait until June 6, 2025 to see the film.

The film is the first of two spin-off movies in the works, alongside an assassin-thriller flick about Donnie Yen's Caine who was introduced in ‘John Wick: Chapter 4.’

‘Ballerina’ reportedly takes place between the third and fourth John Wick movies — which led to speculation of an appearance from Keanu Reeves.

Shay Hatten (John Wick 3 and 4) is working on the screenplay with Emerald Fennell and Michael Finch, with Len Wiseman (‘Underworld’) directing.

Ana de Armas will star as lead character Rooney, a ballerina-turned-assassin who actually had a brief introduction in ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,’ played by dancer Unity Phelan.

Ian McShane will return as Winston, owner of the Continental Hotel, and he spoke to CinemaBlend about working with Ana de Armas on the movie:

"The character Ana plays is from John Wick 3, from the ballet school – which they've expanded upon that," the actor said. "I was in Prague last, what was it? Last November? December? We have a long scene together and she was great."

‘Ballerina’ will feature Lance Reddick's final performance, reprising his character Charon. The actor tragically passed away on March 17, 2023. Before his passing, he spoke about filming Ballerina: "I had a short scene with her. But I mean, she's just so dynamic. And I mean, I wasn't there for any of the action, but given what I read in the script, it's gotta be a hell of a film."

Once again, ‘Ballerina’ is confirmed for June 6, 2025, and additional photography is underway.
