Much like past films from the on-going franchise, ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ is expected to earn the bulk of its box-office income from international markets. The film holds a budget of $160 million — which will be more than made up for by the end of this week.
Top overseas markets that had the biggest impact on the film’s first box-office weekend includes; China with $11.4 million, France with $7.1 million, Mexico with $6.4 million, and the United Kingdom with $4.8 million.
As of late, audiences have gravitated toward IMAX more than ever thanks to films like ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Dune: Part Two’ — which helped to revitalize the format. The Wes Ball directed ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ is the fourth instalment in the rebooted era of the 56-year-old franchise.
