Shawn Levy, who is busy with the soon to be released ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ is in contention to direct the next the film Avengers film — though nothing is set in stone.

Development for the next Avengers film is in very early stages, and sources say Marvel Studios gave the recent draft of the screenplay to Levy last week.

According to insiders, more renown directors are in the run for the directing position. It’s difficult to say if Levy will take the job as his schedule will soon become busy with being director and executive producer of the final season of Netflix’s hit series ‘Stranger Things,’ and development with a future Star Wars film.

The studio is eager to get the next Avengers film off the ground, as the dip in Marvel’s quality of films has certainly took a hit after the mega-hit ‘Avengers: Endgame’ hit theatres — which grossed nearly $2.8 billion at the global box office and wrapped up a 10 year story — nearly edging out ‘Avatar’ as the biggest film of all-time.

Loki creator Michael Waldron wrote the recent draft of script for the fifth Avengers movie, which was at one point subtitled ‘The Kang Dynasty,’ prior to Marvel parting ways with actor Jonathan Majors, who was playing the villain Kang.

Marvel is certainly in need of a revamp, and the fifth Avengers movie could be exactly what they need to revitalize the studios’ popularity.
