Nicolas Cage To Star In A Live-Action Spider-Man Noir Series at Amazon
Popular from the groundbreaking animated and Academy Award winning film ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse,’ Nicolas Cage will once again play Spider-Man Noir — the difference being in live-action.
The announcement was made ahead of Amazon’s upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on Tuesday.
Cage is set to star in the live-action series “Noir,” which has been ordered by MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video. The show will debut for American eyes only via MGM+, quickly followed by a global release on Prime Video.
Head of television for Amazon MGM Studios Vernon Sanders commented: “Expanding the Marvel universe with ‘Noir’ is a uniquely special opportunity and we are honored to bring this series to our global Prime Video customers. — The extremely talented Nicolas Cage is an ideal choice for our new superhero and the accomplished producing team with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal, and the incredible team at Sony is dedicated to expanding this franchise in the most authentic way.”
Cage’s live-action adaption of the character will mark the first regular television role of Cage’s career.
This is now the second Sony-Marvel project to be greenlit at Amazon, with the studio moving forward with the series “Silk: Spider Society” from show runner Angela Kang. It’s known that Sony has several shows in the works from their Spider-man universe, but characters and material are not currently confirmed.
