‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Announces Full Cast, Filming Begins (Netflix)
“Wednesday” Season 2 is officially in production in Ireland, with Netflix revealing the full cast for the new season of the hit series. Work on Season 2 was delayed due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes that shutdown much of Hollywood in 2023.
Jenna Ortega returns as the charismatically bleak Wednesday Addams. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo will all be returning as series regulars. Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer will also be returning, alongside Fred Armisen and Jamie McShane.
Netflix has now confirmed that Steve Buscemi will appear as a new series regular, while Thandiwe Newton will appear in a guest star role.
“Wednesday” originally debuted in November 2022 and instantly became a massive hit for Netflix, racking in more than 1 billion hours watched within the first 3 weeks of release, making it Netflix’s third most popular show at the time. Now, with over 1,718,800,000 hours watched, it has become the most popular Netflix series of all time. Season 1 was nominated for 12 Emmys, winning 4.
Missing from the season 2 announcement roster is Percy Hynes White, who starred in Season 1 as Xavier Thorpe. In 2023, allegations of sexual assault were made against Hynes White on social media.
Like so many other Netflix shows currently in production, we are not likely to see the long anticipated season 2 until 2025.
Jenna Ortega will also serve as executive producer of the show.
