‘Avatar 3’ Title Revealed By James Cameron At D23
James Cameron revealed that Avatar 3 is officially titled ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash.’
Cameron, alongside franchise lead stars Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington, arrived on stage at D23 on Friday to showcase concept art for the upcoming third instalment of ‘Avatar.’
“New cultures and settings — you’ll see more of Pandora the planet than you ever see saw before. The new film isn’t what you expect, but it’s definitely what you want,” Cameron said. “I came 7,000 miles from New Zealand for this.”
Though Cameron presented no footage, fans were left with a giant reveal of the film’s title:
The movie hits cinemas, in 3D and IMAX on December 19, 2025.
‘Avatar’ (2009) is one of the most innnovative films ever made, pushing the threshold of tech and 3D in cinema. It became the biggest movie of all-time, currently resting at $2.9 billion after a couple brief re-releases since its debut (the original box office ended at $2.74 billion).
The film won three out of nine nominated Academy Awards, including Best Visuals Effects.
‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ had a few fans and critics on-edge with anticipation, knowing what came next could never live up to one of the biggest and most creative movies ever made. But it did. The 2022 sequel debuted with rave reviews from critics and fans alike, and earned $2.3 billion at the worldwide box office — and like its predecessor, won Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards.
