Marvel fans have reason to celebrate as Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell are set to reprise their iconic roles in the upcoming film ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ scheduled for release on May 1, 2026.

Chris Evans, renowned for his portrayal of Steve Rogers/Captain America, is confirmed to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in this new installment. While Evans' involvement is certain, the specifics of his role remain undisclosed. Given the multiverse narrative, possibilities include reprising his role as Captain America, returning as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch — a character he portrayed in earlier ‘Fantastic Four’ films (and more recently in ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’). There is a possibility of the actor taking on an entirely new character within the MCU.

Hayley Atwell is also expected to return as Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers' wartime love interest and a formidable agent in her own right. Atwell's portrayal of Peggy Carter has been a fan favorite, and her return adds speculation about Evans returning as Cap himself.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is anticipated to be a significant chapter in the MCU's Phase Six, bringing together a star-studded cast.

Notably, Robert Downey Jr. is set to portray Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom, marking a departure from his previous role within the same universe as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

The film will also feature the Fantastic Four, with Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

The film will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who have previously helmed successful MCU projects, including two films in the top 10 highest grossing films at the box office of all time; ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

Filming is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2025 in London, with the release date set for May 1, 2026.
