‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Tracking For Record Breaking $239 Million Opening Weekend
We’re still a full month away from Marvel Studios' hotly anticipated ‘Dead & Wolverine’ — the first Marvel Cinematic Universe R-Rated movie — and we have new info on box office tracking numbers.
According to Deadline, the film is eyeing a massive $200 million to $239 million opening weekend.
An R-Rated movie has never opened to this number, and the current record is held by the first ‘Deadpool’ movie from 2016, which debuted with $132.4 million.
That R-Rating will reduce the number of people who watch the movie in theaters, but the vast majority of theatre-chains allow children under 17 to watch R-rated titles — provided that they are accompanied by an adult above the age of 21.
The report further explains: "Among those willing to pay to see the movie in a theater, the Shawn Levy-directed threequel blows away all other titles this summer with a high score. In fact, it’s the highest of any movie this summer in any metric across unaided and total awareness and interest."
Synopsis: Wolverine is recovering from his injuries when he crosses paths with the loudmouth Deadpool. They team up to defeat a common enemy.
