‘Gladiator II’ Set To Dominate International Box Office With $80 Million+ Opening Weekend

It’s been nearly a quarter-century since Ridley’s Scott’s Best Picture film ‘Gladiator’ Now, Ridley Scott’s long-awaited sequel is finally stepping into the spotlight! With a star-studded cast led by Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and Connie Nielsen, the action-packed epic began its global rollout on Wednesday, and anticipation is through the roof.

By Friday, ‘Gladiator II’ will have stormed into 63 international markets —China is saving its big debut for November 22, in sync with the U.S. release. Early projections have the film eyeing a powerful $80-90 million international opening weekend, with the potential to soar even higher.

Early reviews are glowing, and the film has already generated massive buzz. Previews in France earlier this week were met with thunderous applause, and the film shot to the top of the charts in both France and Korea.

The film's team has been hard at work, sending the cast on a global tour to drum up excitement. It all started with Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington charming the UK on The Graham Norton Show, kicking off a whirlwind press circuit that spanned seven countries and four continents. The cast and filmmakers have been talking to outlets from over 30 countries, stopping at every corner of the globe to tease the return to the Roman Empire.

In Sydney, fans were treated to a grand premiere complete with a 40-piece orchestra that filled Darling Harbour with the epic sounds of the Gladiator score as Mescal, Nielsen, and Hechinger greeted over 2,400 guests. From there, the team jetted off to Tokyo, where they hit the red carpet at the Ariake Coliseum in style, joined by producers Douglas Wick, Lucy Fisher, and Michael Pruss.

‘Gladiator II’ is on-track to conquer the box office for the next few weeks.
