Glen Powell is teaming up with Barry Jenkins for the upcoming film, ‘The Natural Order,’ which Universal recently acquired. The movie, based on an unpublished manuscript by Matthew Aldrich, will feature Powell in the leading role with Jenkins attached to direct. Both Jenkins alongside Aldrich will collaborate on the screenplay.
‘The Natural Order’ is described as a sci-fi thriller that explores the quest for eternal life. This project represents the first under the Barnstorm banner for Powell and his producing partner Dan Cohen, following their new first-look deal with Universal. The film's production team includes Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak of Pastel, and Jewerl Keats Ross.
Jenkins' last directorial effort was the Disney prequel ‘Mufasa: The Lion King,’ which garnered over $700 million worldwide. He previously won an Oscar for his screenplay for ‘Moonlight’ in 2016.
Powell, whose popularity soared after the success of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ in 2022, is also set to star in Edgar Wright's upcoming ‘The Running Man’ remake, scheduled for a November 2025 release by Paramount.
