Sydney Sweeney has joined the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game ‘Split Fiction,’ with ‘Wicked’ director with Jon M. Chu at the helm. The screenplay is being penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the duo behind ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’

The film is being produced by Mike Goldberg and Dmitri M. Johnson under their banner Story Kitchen (previously known as dj2 Entertainment), along with Chu’s production company, Electric Somewhere. Sweeney will also serve as an executive producer on the project. The talent package is currently being shopped to major studios.

‘Split Fiction,’ developed by Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts, is a co-op adventure game that mixes elements of fantasy and sci-fi. The story centers on two authors, Mio and Zoe, who find themselves trapped inside the fictional worlds they created. Written by Hazelight founder Josef Fares and Sebastian Johansson, the game features split-screen combat, platforming sequences, and unique abilities for each protagonist.

Sources indicate that it has not yet been determined whether Sweeney will portray Mio or Zoe in the film adaptation.

The game debuted on March 6 and quickly became a critical and commercial success. Hazelight reported over two million units sold within the first week of release, with strong momentum continuing in the weeks that followed.
