Jeff Daniels (‘A Man In Full’), Jared Harris (‘Chernobyl,’ ‘The Terror’) and J.K. Simmons (‘Whiplash’) are all set to star in Michael Russell Gunn’s feature debut ‘Reykjavik’ — a historical drama about the The Reykjavik Summit.

The real summit was a meeting between U.S. President Ronald Reagan and General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev, held in Reykjavík, Iceland, on October 11 and 12 in 1986. The discussions from this meeting dictated if their would be peace or war.

Michael Russell Gunn (co-writer of ‘Thai Cave Rescue’ for Netflix) also wrote the script and produces alongside John Logan Pierson (‘It Ends with Us,’ ‘Thai Cave Rescue).

Filming will begin on location in Reykjavik, Iceland this fall, with plans to shoot in the Höfði House: the real site of the 1986 summit.

It’s reported that Gunn has spent years working on his upcoming diplomatic drama, with extensive research including a meeting with Secretary of State George Shultz before his passing, and receiving recently declassified transcripts from the 1986 summit.
