Mahershala Ali’s Attorney Calls ‘Blade’ Delays “The Craziest Thing In My Professional Experience”
Representatives of Mahershala Ali called the Marvel movie's shooting delays the "craziest thing" she's seen in her career.
The Hollywood Reporter spoke to attorney Shelby Weiser about representing massive stars like Ali, and mentioned her disbelief that they haven't begun filming ‘Blade’ yet. "That deal was in 2019, and they still haven't shot it, which is pretty much the craziest thing in my professional experience," Weiser said.
There have been multiple changes and re-structures over at Marvel/Disney in recent years that have impacting the film’s production, and Marvel Studios have lost two directors who left ‘Blade’ because of creative differences — the recent being director Yann Demange who departed the project.
Script tweaks are underway with Eric Pearson assisting.
Ali remains attached to the project. However, the star is in talk for ‘Jurassic World 4’ which could impact shooting schedules.
Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke about reducing the output of Marvel movies, which would also impact the release date of ‘Blade.’
Fans might expect ‘Blade’ to be pushed back to 2026 at the earliest, with ‘Avengers 5’ being pushed forward as a priority.
