‘Shōgun’ And ‘The Bear’ Dominate 2024 Emmy Nominations

Shōgun’ and ‘The Bear’ are dominating the 2024 Emmy nominations.

The nominations were announced on Wednesday, and saw FX’s historical Japan-set epic drama lead with a historic 25 nominations, including the grand prize: best drama series.

‘The Crown’ and Amazon’s popular video game adaptation ‘Fallout’ are also included in the best drama category. Alongside sits other acclaimed shows; ‘The Gilded Age,’ ‘The Morning Show,’ ‘Mr and Mrs Smith,’ ‘Slow Horses,’ and ‘3 Body Problem.’

FX’s ‘The Bear’ broke the record for the most nominations for a comedy in a single year with 23 nominations, including best comedy series.

The comedy category includes ‘Abbott Elementary,’ ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ ‘Hacks,’ ‘Palm Royale,’ ‘Reservation Dogs,’ FX’s ‘What We Do in the Shadows,’ and ‘Only Murders in the Building.’

Netflix’s breakout show ‘Baby Reindeer’ picked up 11 nominations after becoming a surprise hit for the streamer that took social media by storm. Also nominated in the category of limited or anthology series; ‘Fargo,’ ‘Lessons in Chemistry,’ ‘Ripley,’ and ‘True Detective: Night Country.’

The category for lead actor has Idris Elba, Gary Oldman, Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Donald Glover and Hiroyuki Sanada.

Lead actress in a drama contains: Imelda Staunton, Jennifer Aniston, Carrie Coon, Maya Erskine, Anna Sawai and Reese Witherspoon.

2024 Oscar winners Robert Downey Jr and Da’Vine Joy Randolph grabbed nominations for their respective roles in ‘The Sympathiser’ and ‘Only Murders in the Building.’

The 76th Emmy awards takes place on September 15, 2024.
