David Krumholtz, who starred in Christopher Nolan's ‘Oppenheimer,’ and British actress Emily Beecham (‘1899’) have been cast in DC Studios’ ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ directed by Craig Gillespie. The film, now in production at DC’s UK facility in Leavesden, is based on the comic book mini-series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. It features Milly Alcock (‘House of the Dragon’) as Kara Zor-El (Supergirl), Superman's cousin.

The adaptation's screenplay, written by Ana Nogueira, may diverge from the comic's narrative, which explores complex themes beyond the classic hero vs. villain conflict, spanning a variety of worlds and alien cultures. The original 2021 comic, which received an Eisner nomination, centers on Ruthye, a young alien seeking vengeance for her father’s death with Supergirl's help, targeting Krem of the Yellow Hills.

The cast includes Eve Ridley as Ruthye and Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, with a planned cameo by Jason Momoa as the alien bounty hunter ‘Lobo.’ Krumholtz and Beecham will portray the parents of Supergirl.

This film is among the initial projects launched by DC Studios under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran. Alcock was cast as Supergirl nearly a year prior and is slated to debut in Gunn’s upcoming Superman film. The production of Supergirl is set to take place this winter in the UK.
