Alejandro González Iñárritu and Tom Cruise are set to make a big splash in the fall 2026 movie season with their new, yet-to-be-titled film, which is scheduled to premiere on October 2, 2026, according to a recent announcement by Warner Bros.

This new entry takes over the release slot initially reserved for Matt Reeves' sequel to ‘The Batman,’ which remains unnamed. Previously expected in 2025, this sequel is now projected to begin production in late 2025 and has been rescheduled for an October 1, 2027 release.

It’s important to note that Reeves' upcoming film does not form part of the DC universe currently under development by James Gunn and Peter Safran, though they are involved in overseeing the project.

In other scheduling news, the release dates for Robert Pattinson’s ‘Mickey 17,’ directed by Bong Joon Ho, and Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners,’ starring Michael B. Jordan, have been exchanged. ‘Mickey 17’ will now debut on March 7, 2025, and ‘Sinners’ will premiere on April 18, 2025.
