Hunter Biden-Inspired Addiction Pic ‘The Prince’ In The Works; Scott Haze, Nicolas Cage, J.K. Simmons, Giancarlo Esposito, Andy Garcia To Star
Director Cameron Van Hoy has begun production on ‘The Prince,’ a new feature addiction-drama written by Oscar nominee David Mamet. Scott Haze will lead this stacked ensemble which includes Nicolas Cage, J.K. Simmons, Giancarlo Esposito, and Andy Garcia.
‘The Prince’ follows an addict’s odyssey through the complex world of power, pleasure, and pain — while being on a journey toward recovery.
According to Deadline, the main character is inspired by Hunter Biden, son of current U.S. President Joe Biden, whose abuse of drugs and alcohol is well documented — and who was found guilty on Tuesday in Delaware of three felony counts related to the purchase of a gun in 2018.
“These guys who did Sound of Freedom, they came to me and they said, ‘You want to write a movie for us?’ I said, ‘Yeah sure, what do you got?'” David Mamet said. “They said they wanted to do a movie about Hunter Biden.”
“It’s amazing to work with David Mamet on this wildly original screenplay,” said director Cameron Van Hoy. “Collaborating with him, Academy Award winners Nicolas Cage and J.K. Simmons, along with Giancarlo Esposito, Andy Garcia, and my dear friend and collaborator Scott Haze, is a dream.”
The film does not have current release date, but more information will drop over the coming weeks.
