The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had a shaky few years, but Kevin Feige and Disney have high hopes for the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ which is around the corner. However, ‘Blade’ can’t seem to get off the ground. Having already lost Bassam Tariq as director back in 2022, the gritty vampire movie's second director Yann Demange has walked away from the project.

The French-Algerian filmmaker, who made the acclaimed ‘71, left ‘Blade’ some time ago, and now the movie searches for a third director ahead of its quickly approaching November 2025 release date (which will likely be pushed back to 2026).

Marvel veteran Eric Pearson has been brought aboard to rework the script — the latest in a countless line of writers who have tried to get ‘Blade’ for Marvel Studios off the ground.

Mahershala Ali, who was announced to be playing the iconic half-human half-vampire back in 2019 remains attached to star. According to insiders, Feige and is determined on getting the film right than getting it released anytime soon, especially as they move towards a more manageable 'two films per year slate.

Blade’ isn’t completely without hope… yet.
