10. Borderlands | August 9, 2024

With a stacked cast and eye-dazzling visuals, Eli Roth’s ‘Borderlands’ looks like a fun thrill-ride from beginning to end — kicking off our top 10.

Synopsis: Based on the best-selling videogame, this all-star action-adventure follows a ragtag team of misfits on a mission to save a missing girl who holds the key to unimaginable power.

9. The Watchers | June 7, 2024

A directorial debut from Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of iconic filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, releases her first feature during the peak-summer season — in which Warner Bros has taken a risk by giving this movie heavy competition in the June calendar.

Captivatingly eerie and unsettling, Shyamalan is sure to give us something vastly unique, and could spark the career of a great filmmaker.

Synopsis: A young artist gets stranded in an extensive, immaculate forest in western Ireland, where, after finding shelter, she becomes trapped alongside three strangers, stalked by mysterious creatures each night.

8. Bad Boys: Ride or Die | June 7, 2024

The long-awaiting next instalment of the ‘Bad Boys’ franchise is finally here, with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence returning to their charismatic characters. With the same grit and comedy as the original, we could be in for another exciting ride.

Synopsis: This Summer, the world's favorite Bad Boys are back with their iconic mix of edge-of-your seat action and outrageous comedy but this time with a twist: Miami's finest are now on the run.

7. Kinds Of Kindness | June 21, 2024

Hot off of the success of ‘Poor Things’ (2023), Yorgos Lanthimos is back and once again in collaboration with his muse Emma Stone. With unpredictability and wacky characters at the forefront, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Lanthimos’ latest project.

Synopsis: A man seeks to break free from his predetermined path, a cop questions his wife's demeanor after her return from a supposed drowning, and a woman searches for an extraordinary individual prophesied to become a renowned spiritual guide.

6. The Bikeriders | June 21, 2024

Originally scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on December 1, 2023 by 20th Century Studios, the release was delayed due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Now that it’s just around the corner, hype is slowly building for Jeff Nichols’ star-studded film.

Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, and Tom Hardy certainly have their fans tuned in for their latest performances, and the film is one of the most promising of the year.

Synopsis: After a chance encounter, headstrong Kathy is drawn to Benny, member of Midwestern motorcycle club the Vandals. As the club transforms into a dangerous underworld of violence, Benny must choose between Kathy and his loyalty to the club.

5. Alien: Romulus | August 16, 2024

Yes, many moviegoers are concerned with more of the same from the ‘Alien’ franchise, and it’s tough to be optimistic considering their run of movies in the 21st century. However, with horror director Fede Álvarez at the helm, Ridley Scott producing, and actress Cailee Spaeny hot off the success from ‘Civil War’ and ‘Priscilla,’ we could be witnessing something not yet explored in the franchise.

Synopsis: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

4. Deadpool vs Wolverine | July 26, 2024

A long-awaited third instalment to the Deadpool movies is enough to draw an audience — especially since it’s the first Deadpool film under Disney and tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On top of that, Hugh Jackman returns as fan-favorite Wolverine, after his character was killed-off in ‘Logan’ and the actor vowed to never return to the character.

We can expect an exhilaratingly fun film, littered with Marvel cameos that the audiences very much wants to see.

Synopsis: Wolverine is recovering from his injuries when he crosses paths with the loudmouth, Deadpool. They team up to defeat a common enemy.

3. Trap | August 9, 2024

Like father, like daughter, M. Night Shyamalan releases his latest film during the summer season and finds Josh Hartnett leading the project. We can’t quite tell what might happen in Shyamalan’s thriller, with the trailer showing us potential twists and turns at every corner. The unique premise should be enough to draw in a big enough audience to earn the movie a decent box-office result.

We have high expectations for ‘Trap,’ and hope both M. Night Shyamalan and Ishana Night Shyamalan have major horror/thriller hits on their hands.

Synopsis: A father and his teen daughter attend a pop concert only to realize they've entered the center of a dark and sinister event.

2. MaXXXine | July 5, 2024

Director/writer Ti West is back to complete is unexpectedly popular horror trilogy with Mia Goth in ‘MaXXXine.’ This is the final instalment, with it’s previous films ‘X’ and ‘Pearl’ becoming modern cult horror films from A24, and breathing new life into the modern slasher.

Mia Goth has been long overdue for mainstream accolades, with many fans and critics praising her performance in ‘Pearl,’ saying she should of received an Academy Award nomination.

Now with the trilogy coming to a close and anticipation at its peak, Mia Goth and Ti West are surely on the Academy’s radar, and fans are ready to see what’s in store for the final chapter in Maxine’s story.

Synopsis: In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.

1. Longlegs | July 12, 2024

From Oz Perkins, ‘Longlegs’ looks like something we’ve never seen before. A ‘Silence Of The Lambs’ full blown occult horror, with Nicolas Cage playing the terrifying serial killer.

Maika Monroe plays the protagonist, an FBI agent trying to trying to take down Cage, and the actress has long been an underrated talent in the industry and certainly deserves her own spotlight.

From the trailers alone, we’re in for something truly unique and horrifying — the likes of which have not been felt since A24’s ‘Hereditary.’

Audiences have been screaming for original movies, yet never see them in theatres when they release. ‘Longlegs’ shows that the horror genre still has unexplored territory, and is the perfect reason to get into theatres on day one of its release.

Synopsis: In pursuit of a serial killer, an FBI agent uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end his terrifying killing spree.
