A24 has secured the domestic distribution rights for horror film ‘Victorian Psycho.’ The movie will feature Margaret Qualley (‘The Substance’) as the protagonist, with Thomasin McKenzie (‘Leave No Trace’ & ‘Last Night In Soho’) co-starring.

Directed by Zachary Wigon (‘Sanctuary’), the film is based on an upcoming novel by Virginia Feito, who also penned the screenplay. The title ‘Victorian Psycho’ has attracted considerable interest from various U.S. buyers, particularly during pre-market discussions at AFM.

Set against the backdrop of Victorian England, the narrative follows a peculiar governess who arrives at an isolated and eerie manor. Her presence and the uncanny events that unfold lead to suspicions about her true identity. Filming is scheduled to start in March 2025, with release pointing to fall 2026.

Dan Kagan (‘Longlegs’) is producing the project through his company Traffic., in collaboration with Sebastien Raybaud (‘Greenland’), Zachary Wigon, and with support from Anonymous Content. Executive producers include Nick Shumaker and Bard Dorros.

This project marks a reunion for Wigon and Qualley, who previously worked together on the dominatrix-themed thriller ‘Sanctuary,’ which debuted at TIFF in 2022.

The film's financial and distribution arrangements were handled by Anton, UTA Independent Film Group, and CAA Media Finance, representing the production team. Anton is not only financing the project but also managing the international sales rights.
