Leto will portray the infamous Skeletor, with Wilson as Trap Jaw, Bjornsson as Goat Man, and Attah taking on the role of Tri-Klops. They join Alison Brie, who plays Evil-Lyn, Skeletor's right-hand.

The hero lineup features Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms. Leto is widely recognized for his transformative and intense acting performances that often involve significant physical and psychological preparation. He won an Academy Award for his role as Rayon, a transgender woman in ‘Dallas Buyers Club,’ a part for which he underwent a drastic physical transformation and immersed himself deeply into the character's psyche. Leto is also known for his portrayal of the Joker in ‘Suicide Squad,’ where he delivered a unique and controversial take on the iconic villain, characterized by a chaotic intensity. In addition to these roles, his performances in films like ‘Requiem for a Dream’ and ‘Mr. Nobody’ have further cemented his reputation as a versatile and committed actor.

Travis Knight is set to direct the movie, which is scheduled for a global release on June 5, 2026. The screenplay is by Chris Butler, based on earlier drafts by David Callaham and brothers Aaron and Adam Nee. The film, produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films, draws inspiration from the iconic toy line launched in 1982, which also expanded into television and video games.
