While Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal reunite for another action-filled bromance in ‘The Accountant 2,’ one familiar face is noticeably absent from the sequel.
Anna Kendrick was a major part of the first film, helping Affleck’s character Christian Wolff solve the main financial mystery. Though she was left out of the high-octane sequel, director Gavin O’Connor recently hinted that Anna Kendrick could return as accountant Dana Cummings in a potential third installment.
Speaking to ‘The New York Times,’ O’Connor shared that he and screenwriter Bill Dubuque “have had some preliminary conversations. I am personally running from another puzzle movie, which we’ve done twice now. One thing we’ve talked about is the idea of bringing Anna Kendrick back. Maybe Christian can finally get the love that he deserves.”
“We’re hoping she still likes us,” Affleck joked. O’Conner jumped in and said, “actually, Ben, she and I have been texting. She said she’s a hundred percent in if we want.”
In ‘The Accountant 2,’ now playing in theaters, Affleck reprises his role as an accountant on the autism spectrum who solves financial issues and launders money for criminal organizations worldwide. After he and his brother Braxton (Bernthal) reunite in the first film, the two team up to investigate the murder of Christian’s Treasury Department contact, Raymond King (played by J.K. Simmons).
'The Accountant 2’ released April 25, 2025 — first premiering at SXSW in Austin, Texas.
