Fede Álvarez’s highly anticipated seventh instalment in Ridley Scott’s original Alien franchise, ‘Alien: Romulus,’ was shown Monday night to the general audience after its world premiere in Los Angeles, and we have the first reactions.

‘Romulus’ is set between Ridley Scott‘s ‘Alien’ (1979) and James Cameron’s sequel ‘Aliens’ (1986).

Synopsis: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

The film stars Cailee Spaeny (‘Civil War' and ‘Priscilla’) as the lead, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced and Spike Fearn.

‘Romulus’ was originally put into production as a Hulu release but the studio shifted to a theatrical wide release at the start of principal photography.

“Right when we started shooting it, the studio was like, ‘Fuck it, we’re going into theaters with this,’” Fede Álvarez said to The Hollywood Reporter.

‘Alien: Romulus’ releases worldwide in theaters on August 16, 2024.
