Yes, John Wick is still alive even though he was killed on-screen in ‘John Wick 4.’ Now, Lionsgate is actively looking to expand the franchise.

The studio has announced multiple new projects, including an animated series, a spinoff directed by Donnie Yen featuring his character Caine, and ‘John Wick: Chapter 5,’ which will see Keanu Reeves reprising his role. Franchise veteran Chad Stahelski is set to direct and produce, alongside returning producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee from Thunder Road.

These announcements were part of Lionsgate's substantial presentation at CinemaCon, held this morning at the Caesars Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas.

‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ recently grossed over $440 million worldwide, continuing the franchise's trend of each film surpassing its predecessor's earnings. Collectively, the films have amassed over $1 billion globally. Beyond the main series, the John Wick universe has expanded to include two spinoff films.

‘Ballerina’ is scheduled for release on June 6, and a Caine-focused spinoff starring Donnie Yen (and directed by Yen) is set to begin production this summer. Writer Mattson Tomlin (‘The Batman Part II’ and Keanu Reeves-created comic book ‘BRZRKR’) has joined the project to write the script.

Lionsgate Television has produced ‘The Continental: From the World of John Wick’ for Peacock and Amazon Prime, and is developing another series, ‘John Wick: Under the High Table,’ with Stahelski and Reeves as executive producers. On the interactive front, Lionsgate recently launched a John Wick immersive experience in Las Vegas and is developing a AAA John Wick video game.
