The first instalment in the newly planned ‘Apes’ trilogy is still playing in select theatres around the world, and inching toward a concluded box office above $400 Million globally.

Currently, the film holds $170.6 at the domestic box office, while earning $225.7 Million overseas.

On it’s first weekend, the film leapt to No. 1 in North America with $56.5 million, with a global cumulation of $129 million. Much like past films from the on-going franchise, ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ hit expectations by earning the bulk of its box-office income from international markets.

‘Kingdom’ holds a budget of $160 million, with a box office return significant enough for the franchise to continue. The film is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with 80% from over 300 critics and 77% from over 2500 verified audience members.

The film was directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner franchise) and written by Josh Friedman (‘War Of The Worlds,’ and ‘Avatar 4’). Owen Teague stars as the lead role of Noa, an ape on a quest to save his clan from danger, Freya Allan (‘The Witcher’) who plays an mysteriously intelligent human on a quest to reinstate her species as the dominant force, and Kevin Durand as the intellectual villain, determined to wipe humans off the Earth once and for all.

Currently, the film is a frontrunner to be nominated for “Best Visual Effects” at the 2025 Academy Awards, in a battle with ‘Dune: Part Two.’
