‘Outer Range’ Canceled After Two Seasons at Amazon

Unfortunately for ‘Outer Range’ fans, the series will not be getting a third season as Amazon has canceled the show, which was hailed for its mix of Western and sci-fi elements.

The second season only premiered two months ago.

The series originally premiered on Prime Video on April 2022 and was greenlit for season two in October of that year. The series also changed showrunners at that time, with Charles Murray taking over for Zev Borow.

Josh Brolin starred as a Wyoming rancher Royal Abbott, who fights for his land and family, and discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming's wilderness. The series is essentially an examination on how we as humans, grapple with the unknown.

Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie and Will Patton also starred in supporting roles.

Other Prime Video shows like Fallout and Reacher have become more of a priority for the streamer, as ‘Fallout’ dominated Nielsen’s rankings of the top 10 streaming series. Meanwhile, ‘Outer Range’ had eight weeks in the top 10 for season one, while season two had three weeks on the charts.

Fans have been left frustrated by yet another streaming platform’s decision to cancel a popular show long before its conclusion.

“Am getting really tired of being invested in mysterious TV shows,” a fan of the series commented. “I am almost to the point where I am better off waiting to see if a show is renewed before even trying the first season.”

‘Outer Range’ joins ‘The Peripheral’ — a promising new series, that was axed before its time.
