Legendary Eyes Robert Pattinson For Villain Role in ‘Dune: Messiah’

Robert Pattinson is reportedly being considered for the lead antagonist role in Legendary’s third Dune instalment; ‘Dune: Messiah.’
It’s rumored that Pattinson could portray Scytale, a character from Frank Herbert's original novels, and could face off against Timothée Chalamet.
While Pattinson has not yet received an official offer, his current engagements include leading roles in ‘The Batman’ sequel directed by Matt Reeves, and in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey.’
Director Denis Villeneuve, who is celebrated for drawing globally renowned talent to his projects, has already worked with high-profile actors like Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Jason Momoa, and Josh Brolin in ‘Dune’ and its sequel. The first film was released simultaneously in theaters and on streaming services in 2021 during the pandemic and grossed $410 million worldwide. Its sequel, ‘Dune: Part Two.’ released in 2024, and earned $714.6 million globally.
The narrative of ‘Dune: Messiah,’ published in 1969, resumes 12 years after the events of ‘Dune.’ It follows Paul Atreides, who is now the Emperor and married to Princess Irulan, and has conquered most of the known universe.
Filming for ‘Dune: Messiah’ is slated for this summer, with a planned release date of December 18, 2026, by Warner Bros. Director Denis Villeneuve has indicated that this movie will conclude his involvement with the Dune series, though the studio plans on continuing the saga.
Legendary has not provided any statements on Pattinson’s potential casting.
