Six years since the monumental success of ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ Marvel Studios is gearing up to reunite the Avengers for another summer blockbuster.

The cast of the 2026 movie ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ was revealed during an extensive five-and-a-half hour livestream, featuring a blend of established Marvel Cinematic Universe favorites, former stars of the once-alive 20th Century Fox X-Men series, and fresh faces from the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps.’ Notably absent from the lineup were Tom Holland (Spider-Man) and Chris Evans (Captain America), though Evans is expected to appear in at least one segment of the two-part series.

The announced cast includes Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Danny Ramirez (The Falcon), and Winston Duke (M’Baku), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), and Lewis Pullman.

The original X-Men are also taking center stage, with Patrick Stewart (Prof. X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Kelsey Grammer (Beast) and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) returning to their iconic roles, who also represent the pioneering of modern superhero cinema. A new (and recent) X-Men addition includes Channing Tatum, previously tied to an unproduced Gambit film, who will appear in ‘Doomsday’ as his second appearance in the MCU following ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool have been heavily speculated to appear in either outing.

The Fantastic Four will be present in the film, represented by Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (The Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), and Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch).

An unexpected addition is Tenoch Huerta Mejía, the Submariner from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ amid controversies surrounding allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has denied.

The casting event itself was straightforward, displaying director’s chairs labeled with the actors' names, unveiling a new chair every twelve minutes to the tune of music from the respective actor's films. The presentation concluded dramatically with Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom) appearing to hush the camera, set against a new rendition of Alan Silvestri’s iconic Avengers theme.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July, marking a significant return for Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU, reuniting with the Russo Brothers, who have also returned after a hiatus post-Endgame. Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, initiated the idea with Downey, leading to the Russos’ comeback, driven by a new screenplay from their collaborator Stephen McFeely.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set for release on May 1, 2026, with a follow-up, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ slated for May 7, 2027.
