Spinoff ‘Game Of Thrones’ show ‘House of the Dragon’ had its season finale on August 4 and was met with poor audience reactions, with some questioning the intent of lackluster episode. Season two as a whole wasn’t a hit with many fans either, as many believe the show was “stretched too thin” in order to hit the 8-episode quota to set up the next season.

The show is based on George R. R. Martin’s book ‘Fire & Blood,’ focusing on the reign of the Targaryens.

Showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal revealed Monday that ‘House Of The Dragon’ will end with season 4, further mentioning that season 3 will be put into production in 2025.

Season 1 of House of the Dragon premiered August 21, 2022 and was quickly picked up for a second season. Critics and audiences were relieved that ‘House Of The Dragon’ returned the ‘Game Of Thrones’ franchise to its former quality — mentioning the overall storytelling and complex characters as its highlights. However, season 2 seemed to bore fans for many of its episodes — especially with several episodes showcasing Daemon aimlessly hallucinating at Harrenhal.

Season 3 will kick-off with something everyone has been waiting for: the battle between houses. Its only a shame that viewers will need to wait until 2026 to see the war begin.

Season 2 stands at 85% from Rotten Tomaotes critics and while the audience score rests at 77% — comparative to season 1, which holds at 90% from critics and 83% from fans.
