Rebecca Ferguson Cast In ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ With Andrew Garfield And Claire Foy

Rebecca Ferguson, star of Denis Villeneuve's ‘Dune’ and the ‘Mission Impossible’ films joins Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Nicola Coughlan, Jessica Gunning and Jennifer Saunders in the film adaptation of Enid Blyton‘s classic children’s book ‘The Magic Faraway Tree.’

Ferguson will play Dame Snap, a headmistress and one of Blyton’s most iconic villains. The actress has thrived in darker roles previously with her terrifying portrayal of Rose The Hat in 2019s ‘Doctor Sleep.’

A modern family learns to reconnect after being forced to move to the remote British countryside and discover a magical tree from where they are transported to spectacular and fantastical lands says the film’s synopsis.

Alongside Ferguson; Claire Foy as Polly Thompson, Andrew Garfield as Tim Thompson, Nicola Coughlan as Silky, Nonso Anozie as Moonface, Jessica Gunning as Dame Washalot, Dustin Demri-Burns as the Saucepan Man, Mark Heap as Mr. Oom Boom Boom, Oliver Chris as Mr. Watzisname, Lenny Henry, Michael Palin, Simon Russell Beale, Jennifer Saunders as Grandma Thompson, Hiran Abeysekera as Angry Pixie, and Pippa Bennett-Warner as Hannah.

Ben Gregor will direct a screenplay by Simon Farnaby (‘Wonka,’ ‘Paddington 2’). “Rebecca is a towering screen presence, one of the finest actors of her generation, and will be an electrifying addition to our movie,” said Gregor.

Ferguson's slate of films is only ever-increasing, as the actress has reached enormous demand from Hollywood producers and filmmakers. She will star opposite ‘Oppenheimer’ Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy in a ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie at Netflix. The actress also has ‘Mercy’ (2025) in the works with Chris Pratt and Annabelle Wallis starring, and a rumored ‘Dune: Part 3’ likely to hit production sometime next year. ‘Silo’ season 2 (AppleTV+) is also in development with Ferguson returning as the lead.
