Steven Knight Teases More Casting News For ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie Starring Cillian Murphy And Rebecca Ferguson, Netflix Production
‘Peaky Blinders’ show creator and writer Steven Knight has teased new updates for the ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie cast as the film heads toward production this month.
Currently, Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan are two major casting announcements set to join ‘Oppenheimer’ Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, who returns to his iconic gangster role as Tommy Shelby.
Tom Harper, who directed several episodes of the show, will helm the Netflix movie.
Though the six-season series takes place in the 1920s, Steven Knight confirmed that the film will be set much later during World War II.
Knight touched on future casting announcements that are soon to break:
“We’ve announced Rebecca Ferguson, we’ve announced Barry Keoghan, we’ve got some more announcements coming,” Knight told the RTS London Convention. “It’s set in the Second World War and it’s really good.”

The feature will be made in association with BBC Film, as the show was funded and televised through BBC Two from seasons 1 to 4, and BBC One from seasons 5 to 6.
Rebecca Ferguson has proven once again how in-demand she is as an actress, coming off of major back-to-back hits such as ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,’ Apple TV+’s ‘Silo,’ and Denis Villeneuve’s 2024 sci-fi masterpiece ‘Dune: Part Two’ — grossing $712 million at the worldwide box office.
Ferguson recently wrapped MGM Studios’ sci-fi thriller ‘Mercy’ opposite Chris Pratt and stars as Dame Snap from the Enid Blyton book adaption of ‘The Magic Faraway Tree.’
Barry Keoghan is hot off the success of Martin McDonagh’s 2022 hit ‘The Banshees of Inisherin,’ in which he received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination and won a BAFTA for the role. He also starred in Emerald Fennell’s ‘Saltburn,’ earning a BAFTA and Golden Globe nomination.
Keoghan’s next feature ‘Bird’ premiered this year at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, and is set to arrive at the BFI London Film Festival in October.
