Mikey Madison has turned down a role in Disney’s upcoming ‘Star Wars’ film. The actress is currently in large demand following her Best Actress win at the Oscars.

According to sources familiar with the situation, Madison was offered a part in the upcoming untitled ‘Star Wars’ film being directed by Shawn Levy, known for helming the billion dollar ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ However, discussions have come to a close, and Madison has decided to decline the role.

The film’s script is being written by Jonathan Tropper, whose credits include ‘This Is Where I Leave You’ and ‘The Adam Project.’ Ryan Gosling is attached to star, and Levy is not only directing but also producing through his 21 Laps banner, alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. With this project, Levy will join the small circle of directors who’ve worked with both of Canada’s famous Ryans — Gosling and Reynolds.

Unlike previous entries, this film is expected to be a standalone story, unconnected to the Skywalker Saga that wrapped with 2019’s ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’ For now, all other details remain tightly under wraps.

This new project follows ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu,’ the first ‘Star Wars’ movie to be greenlit in over five years. That film recently finished principal photography and is currently scheduled for release on May 22, 2026.

Madison, 26, is best known for her work on the FX series ‘Better Things,’ ‘Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood,’ and ‘Scream 5.’ But her performance in Sean Baker’s ‘Anora’ was her big break moment, that marked a turning point in her career, and the first role she landed without needing to audition. Her performance earned her the Best Actress Oscar at the 2025 Academy Awards.
