‘Wolfs’ Sequel With Brad Pitt And George Clooney Not Moving Forward At Apple
A sequel to the Apple TV+ movie ‘Wolfs,’ starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, is no longer in development.
Director Jon Watts, who helmed the original film, revealed the news in an interview with Collider, stating, “I don’t know what I’m directing next, and I don’t think there’s going to be a ‘Wolfs’ sequel.”
‘Wolfs’ which premiered on Apple TV+ after a limited theatrical release, garnered significant attention thanks to its star-studded cast. Originally, Deadline had reported that the film was planned for a broader theatrical release before transitioning to streaming, but the strategy shifted to a smaller box office run with an emphasis on streaming. Despite initial reports suggesting a sequel was in the works, Watts confirmed that this is no longer the case.
The film, which also stars Amy Ryan, follows two rival fixers who cross paths while attempting to cover up a scandal involving a prominent New York official. Taking place over the course of one intense night, the two must set aside their differences to get the job done, resulting in an exciting, fast-paced thriller.
‘Wolfs’ holds a production budget of around $100 million, a considerable figure for a streaming-focused release. The limited theatrical run grossed approximately $25 million, with most of the film’s viewership coming through Apple TV+, where it quickly became one of the platform’s most-streamed films upon release. However, with the sequel now scrapped, Apple and the film’s creative team appear to be focusing on other projects, leaving ‘Wolfs’ as a one-time event — a rarity for Hollywood who garners each major project to be franchise-focused.
The film’s streaming success on Apple TV+ underscores the growing trend of hybrid releases, balancing limited theater exposure with a major push on digital platforms — though many industry creators and filmmakers are in dispute with this new distribution model.
Despite solid viewership numbers and an average to poor critics & audience reviews, the decision not to pursue a sequel may be tied to creative choices or shifting priorities within Apple’s original film slate.
