Samara Weaving will once again team-up with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett for a ‘Ready Or Not’ sequel. The news breaks over 5 years after the 2019 dark-comedy horror became a surprise hit for Searchlight Pictures.

The first film was penned by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, telling the story of Grace, a bride who discovers her new family’s horrifying wedding night ritual: choosing a mystery card with several possible game options. She draws the hide and seek card, sparking a murderous version of the game. She learns that the family holds this tradition in order to keep their on-going pact with the devil from long ago.

‘Ready or Not’ held a budget of $6 million and earned $57.6 million at the global box office. Its mass appeal carried on to the home entertainment market (streaming), generating more profits for the studio. The film gains popularity at its peak during the October Halloween season.

Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak and James Vanderbilt are all returning as producers, while Villella and Tara Farney will executive produce.

The original writers are returning to pen the sequel, but no plot details have been disclosed.

Ready Or Not’ launched Weaving’s acting and modeling career, starring in Damien Chazelle’s bombastic 1920s-based pic ‘Babylon’ (2022), and earned her a role in the softly-rebooted Scream franchise with 2023’s ‘Scream VI.’
